Over the last few months, have you heard yourself say,
"After the holidays I will..."? What ever your thing, it's time to get moving. You only have two weeks left to procrastinate! What was it that you said you were going to do after the holidays? It's time to get it on your schedule so that you can't talk yourself out of it. Get out your calendar right now and find the day that you are going to start doing your thing. Write it down as an appointment first thing in the morning, and let's do this!
I totally understand the desire to wait to start something new until the craziness of December is over. However, I have found that if you want something badly enough, nothing, not even the crazy holiday season, can stop you.
What is your thing?
What do you want to set your sights on, now that the holidays are pretty much behind us? Is it healthy living, career goals, self-improvement, relationships or something else? Setting your goals properly makes all the difference. Simply saying you want to loose 20 pounds or get a promotion, will not help you reach those goals. I've mentioned this many times before, but it's important to keep these parameters in mind to save you from the frustration of not achieving your goals. Make sure that your goal is measurable, achievable, and 100% under your control. Also, don't forget to set mini goals along the way. Accomplishing those, creates positive momentum toward the bigger goal.
You have two weeks to plan your strategy for attacking your new mission. Who will hold you accountable?
Without an accountability partner or a coach, you are much less likely to reach your goal. Coaches are great because they push you, they challenge you to do more than you think you are capable of doing. Accountability partners are fantastic as well, because they help you to show up for yourself, for fear of not letting your partner down. I recommend choosing someone who is not too close to you. Sometimes choosing a spouse or good friend can backfire because they don't want to hurt your feelings or put strain on the relationship. Choose a friend or acquaintance who can be honest with you without fear of compromising your relationship.
Once you've chosen your partner, write down your plan!
Send it to your partner so that they know how to hold you accountable.
Now the only thing left to do, is to do it!
