How are you approaching your health journey? Is it to achieve a specific goal or is it to repent for past mistakes or poor choices? Your approach has a huge affect on your ability to achieve success. If you have a positive and motivating reason to continue checking of the boxes on your list, you will be much more likely to continue.
Think about how we motivate pets and children. When we offer them a positive incentive to behave a certain way, they do their best to do exactly what is expected. No one likes to be punished, so don't punish yourself. Reward yourself, even bribe yourself! Living a healthy lifestyle is a positive thing. It's something that you should want to do, so give yourself reasons TO DO it. Do you know what motivates you? If you're not sure, think about what you like to do most for others. That's probably what you like as well. Once you figure out what gets you going, use it like you would to motivate someone else. Set little goals for yourself like a new pair of shoes if you reach a goal. Take an afternoon off of work, or get a massage. Choose something that is within your budget, makes you feel good and does not include food. You are trying to live healthier and reinforcing the idea that food is a reward, and not fuel, will work against you.
Being the healthiest version of you is the best goal to strive toward. What's better than being healthy? When your body and mind are at their best, you are able to be a better spouse, parent, employee and friend.
Remember that you're not trying to undo something bad, you're trying to do something good! Yay you!!
