How often do you go into the weekend knowing exactly how you want it to go? We often look forward to it so much, yet we don't make a plan and before we know it, Monday has come again and we feel like we wasted our weekend. It's important to have an idea about the things that you want to accomplish, the ways that you want to recharge your soul, people you want to spend time with, and activities that build you up. Your weekend does not need to be scheduled down to the minute. Even if you have a general idea of how it's going to go, you will get to the end of it feeling accomplished, recharged and ready for your new week.
What recharges you? Are you the type of person who wants time to themselves? Do you enjoy a meal with friends? It's important to understand yourself and things that recharge you and things that drain you. Some people get recharged by being surrounded by a group of people and loud music, others are recharged by a quiet night at home with a book. If you're not sure which you are, pay attention to how you feel after a night of each. You should notice a vast difference in your mood and energy after one or the other.
So when looking forward to the weekend, be conscious not only of your to do list, but also of your need to recharge your batteries. If you have a long list of things that you need to do around the house, find a way to make it more enjoyable so that your day or days off, of your normal grind, don't feel more strenuous and draining than your actual job or daily routine. Try listening to a book or music while you do your chores. Try rewarding yourself like you would a child. After a completed task, do something fun.
However you choose to spend your weekend, enjoy it! If the chores need to wait so that you wake up Monday ready to rock the week! Then find some time to squeeze in a little extra work this week so that the tasks don't snowball into next week.
