How do you know when it’s the right time to start making healthy changes to your lifestyle? The answer is, there is no perfect time to start. You are always going to be busy. And there will always be vacations, work emergencies, and family events coming up. The only thing you know for sure is how you feel right now. And if, right now, you feel like you need to make changes, then now is the right time to start.
With all the things you have going on, I bet your workload feels like it’s at its most heavy right now. It’s not just the daily obligations, it’s also the workload that can come from a parent that needs you, a sibling that’s sick, or an issue with one of your kids. It could be something bigger. You might feel like you can’t focus on eating and exercise because you are at capacity and you want to wait for a better time.
The thing is, your load might get lighter, it might get heavier, but the only real truth is, we don’t know what the future holds. All you know for sure is what your life looks like right now, and how you feel right now. If you don’t like how it looks and you don’t like how you feel, then you already know that it’s time to make a change right now. And what you really need is motivation, focus, and probably some support.
To get you moving in the right direction, I have a few questions that will focus and hopefully motivate you. So grab a pen an paper (or open up your Notes app) and take a few minutes to write out your answers to these questions…
What’s your vision for your lifestyle? What does better look like to you?
How will changing your lifestyle impact the people in your circle? Whether it’s focusing on nutrition, exercise, or even organization or time management, how will your family, business, friends, coworkers, neighbors be affected?
What level of support would make the process more attainable? That could mean childcare, or coworkers respecting time boundaries. It could mean finding an accountability partner or a trainer or coach.
What’s stopping you right now from diving in and making changes? Break it down logistically and then mentally. What are your roadblocks? Did something stop you the last time you tried to make a change?
Only you know the right time to make a lifestyle change. But I can tell you with certainty that if you wait for things to slow down before you make the changes, you’ll be too burnt out to start. Making sustainable, healthy changes to your life will help you have the energy to deal with what life is throwing at you. It’s time to create a lifestyle that will allow you to prioritize your self care regardless of what’s happening around you.
Get the focus, the tools, and the support you need to make those changes real! If you’re ready for that, set up a time to talk with me and let’s get started!
