Did you know that we make 227 food-related choices every day? 227! It's a huge amount. And I know you're probably like, “No, that can’t be true.” Most people estimate that they make less than 15 food choices a day. But the truth is that we don’t even recognize most of the choices we make. And those auto-pilot choices can have a huge effect on our health.
Now, you might think that I’m suggesting that you start consciously thinking about all 227 choices. I’m not. Because obsessing isn’t the right move either. You don’t have the time or the energy to think about every single food choice you’re making. But you can set yourself up to make healthy choices without the stress and overwhelm.
The problem with all these food-related choices, is that it can make you want to give up. Decision fatigue is real. And you might want to say, “I quit. I’m just going to eat whatever and stop thinking about it.” But your body and your health pay the price for that. So quitting isn’t an option.
On the other side of that, all of these choices can drive you to choose really strict diet programs. Because on the surface that seems to simplify things, right? A really strict program eliminates options. You don’t have to be overwhelmed by choices and you can just eat your special little meal in your plastic box and call it a day.
The issue is that restrictive programs don’t last long. And while the simplicity is appealing, it gets boring and frustrating really fast. And then you’re right back where you started.
There’s so much noise around diet and food. And it’s coming from every direction. Everyone has an opinion about what works and what trend you should try. So on top of the 227 food decisions you have to make, you’re also surrounded by the overwhelming amount of “solutions” to choose from. And I wish I could get rid of that barrage of diet trends for you and tell you what one solution works.
But the real answer is that the more you learn about your body, the better equipped you’ll be to make the right choices. There’s no one diet or trend that will fix everything. But when you understand
your body, what works for it and what doesn’t, your 227 choices become much, much easier to make. And the best way to figure out your body, is to work with a professional.
A certified
nutrition specialist isn’t going to give you the latest diet trend. We know the science behind how your body works and we know how to break it down the best way for you. Your body deserves answers and solutions that are researched and more than a meme. Your body also deserves more than trial-and-error. It takes 30 days to see significant changes with a nutrition plan
and 90 days to know if something is really working. If you’re using trial-and-error and you just keep throwing the latest social media diet trend at your body, it could take years to figure out what you need.
Working with a professional who can teach you, coach you, take years off your quest for healthy changes, and add years to your quality of life, is invaluable. If you’re sick of obsessing over your diet, then check out my “Self Care for Female Leaders” program. Together, we can figure out what your body needs and how to confront your 227 choices a day in a way that won’t overwhelm you!
