Last you looked, you were young, thin, full of energy and proud of your body. Then life happened. Marriage (possibly divorce), children, work, all lead to you no longer recognizing yourself info the mirror. The question becomes just deal with it or do something? You decide to do something but now don't have a clue where to start.
There are a million fad diets, gimmicks, “guaranteed to work” solutions available to you, but how do you choose? Ask 10 friends, you'll get 10 different responses. Here's what I know for sure: there's no quick fix, every choice requires some sacrifice, it will be hard, it will be worth it.
First, choose something you enjoy. If you hate it, you won't stick with it. If you were a dancer, find a class that's dance inspired. If you were an athlete, find a way to compete again, even if it's against yourself. Second, find a coach who inspires you and isn't afraid to be honest with you. Everyone needs a coach, even Olympians. You often cannot be objective, see yourself from the outside or hold yourself accountable. A great coach is what makes good, great.
Lastly, be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day. Your body didn't become what it is overnight. Don't expect to reverse course at warp speed. It takes 90 days to see any major change. Be consistent, be committed and stay the course. YOU ARE WORTH IT!
When all else fails, remember children will do what you do, not what you say. You are modeling how a healthy adult lives. Inspire them, include them, they'll be your biggest cheerleaders and will certainly hold you to your word.
