To maintain, or even improve, your new healthy body, you need a plan. From birth we learn a way of eating, a way of rewarding accomplishments, a way of handling heartache. These generally revolve around food, eating or not eating, healthy or not, binge or purge. Now that you've gone through such a successful journey, you get to CHOOSE your relationship with food.
Learning all you can about food and how it fuels you is critical yet can seem overwhelming. Making minor changes to your daily habits will enable you to be successful at whatever goal you set. Try swapping some ingredients in your favorite recipes. Swap veggie noodles for regular, red or yellow potatoes for brown, skip the starch and add more veggies. Modify your favorites, don't ditch them entirely.
Traditions, traditions….. again modify, don't ditch. You always have a special breakfast on Christmas? Make it leaner and greener, eggs, extra veggies, healthy fat butter and no bread. You love to go out for dinner to celebrate? Make a gourmet dinner at home, complete with fancy linens and fancy dishes. It'll be less expensive, an experience to remember and healthier!
Your life is yours to live. Choose your new normal and make it better for everyone and you. Be proud of yourself and your commitment to your new healthy, amazing self!
