Have you ever stopped to think about just how big of an influence food is in our lives? It can either help or hinder our physical, mental, and emotional health. So why don’t we know more about how to eat?
Food is such an important physiological need. Without it you cannot learn, think, or do anything. When you’re hungry, everything else goes out the window.
But food goes beyond the physical. It’s also social. It’s at the heart of our family activities, celebrations, and daily schedules. And our social events are almost always centered around food.
And then there’s the mental and emotional aspects of food. Think about how much stress you feel over shopping, budgeting, planning, and cooking food. Not to mention how your relationship with food can affect your body image, your psyche, and how much you like yourself.
Food has a major effect on your health. So knowing that, why don’t you know more about where your food comes from? Why don’t you know more about how to eat to keep yourself healthier, have that healthy body image, and healthy mental state? And why don’t you know how to cook and plan meals effectively?
Sometimes, if you’re lucky, you’ll get taught along the way. But for the most part, I’m sure you’ve just been left on your own to either figure out what you’re putting in your body. And you’ve had to figure out where your food comes from and what preservatives, chemicals, steroids, and antibiotics are in it. Or maybe you’ve decided you don’t want to know because ignorance is bliss.
But is it?
You make 227 food-related choices every day. That is a massive influence on your life, so why aren’t you educating yourself on those choices? If you made 227 money-related choices, wouldn’t you want to make sure they were the right choices for you and your goals?
Food is no different.
What if 200 of those 227 choices were easy and educated? How would that affect your life? I can tell you that 75% of us will die from a lifestyle-related disease like heart disease, metabolic syndrome, or diabetes. If you take control of your diet, you cut that risk down to 40%. Doesn’t that sound good?
That goal can be yours! Especially when you follow it up with a plan. Decide to get healthy, educate yourself on how to do it, and then make a plan that works. If you’re ready to reduce your risk down to 40% or even lower, I’ve got you. I’m hosting 3-Day Food Fight through my Facebook group where we’re going to talk about these issues and I’m going to give you tools and action steps to reduce your stress and frustration surrounding food.
Make choices that will empower you to feel as good as you want to! And maybe those 227 choices that you make every day can be reduced and leave some brain space for the important stuff like work and family. I hope you’ll join me because I want to reduce your stress and boost your health!
