Do you feel like asking for help means you’re failing? Over-achievers tend to have that mentality. We think we should be able to handle everything on our own. And then we wonder why we’re so overwhelmed! I truly believe that asking for help is how we grow and I want you to have the support and mentorship that you need to thrive!
Last night, my son did what kids do best. They mirror us and show us the example we’re putting out into the world. But sometimes that means seeing our flaws on display.
He was struggling with something, feeling stressed and overwhelmed. And as he was talking to me about it, he said, “I shouldn’t have to ask for help. I should just have this under control.” That felt like a dagger to my heart because I know he’s learned that from me.
I used to think that I needed to handle everything perfectly and by myself. And if I couldn’t, I was somehow a failure. I’ve had to learn that asking for help isn’t weakness, it’s a sign of strength. Using my resources wisely to empower myself and improve my life is a wonderful thing to do. I’ve done the work and figured that out, and I was able to talk my son through it.
High achievers are guilty of this! We feel like if we don’t do it ourselves, it won’t get done right. So we do everything and then wonder why we’re burned out. Is this at all familiar?
If you can accept that there’s actually strength and power in admitting your weaknesses and shortcomings, you’re embracing growth! So rather than feeling ashamed for not juggling everything perfectly, start seeing it as a sign of strength that you’re giving yourself the opportunity to learn, adapt, and become better.
One of the ways I’ve done this is by turning to mentors, coaches, and friends. They’ve been a wonderful resource for me! So I want to help you take advantage of that same resource. I have many friends who are experts in their own fields. And I’ve gathered some of them together for my upcoming audio summit, “Empowered Women Thriving in Success.”
This is my second micro audio summit. The first one was a huge success and I absolutely loved doing it. And I think this summit will be even better.
