We all create systems and habits. What is your system for accomplishing a goal or checking off a task?

Do you do the same thing every time or is your approach different depending on the situation? I’ve discussed the dreaded wall before. The one we crash into over and over again as we attempt to better ourselves. If you find yourself crashing into that wall and restarting, perhaps the problem is your system. Your method of attacking your goals isn’t working. It’s time to find a new one. 

Let’s identify your system. What is a goal you’re after right now? It can be a simple one, something like reading daily or meal planning. What steps do you take right away to move yourself toward it? Do you just say, “Today is the day that I will start...”? Do you make a list or a schedule? Do you just begin? Any goal you set is meant to improve your life in some way. 

With the right system, you will experience more control and command over your life. 

You'll dramatically increase the likelyhood of achieving the goals you've set. Knowing how to set and achieve goals greatly affects whether or not you are able to achieve them. The right system will show you how to achieve a goal successfully.

I use the analogy of driving often when I’m discussing goal setting. When you get in your car, you usually have a destination in mind. You may or may not have a route planned out. Think of your goal like your destination. Are you sure of how you’ll get there, or are you going to ask Google to guide you? Google certainly will have the information you’re looking for, but when it comes to goal setting and smashing, Google isn’t always right. Sometimes you have to use other resources to find the best route to get you there. 

Seek out opportunities that will help you increase your productivity, streamline your approach or take the momentum you already have and exponentiate it.

If you’ve found yourself running into that wall of failure or missing the goal, take that opportunity to reevaluate your system. Find a new route, one that will give you more clarity to tackle more priorities more quickly. You might be thinking, “That’s the only way I know”. Yes! Now you get to try a new way, something that you haven’t yet. It’s time to get out of your comfort zone and do something DIFFERENT. 

Ask yourself, “What am I avoiding?”. Then try it! 

Ask yourself, “What makes me nervous?”. Now try it! 

Ask yourself, “How badly do I really want it?”

If you’re running into a wall and falling short of your goals, it’s time to evaluate your system. 

It’s time to take a break from Google and dive into your own mind. Discover a deeper understanding of yourself. Develop your mindset to embrace challenge and adversity, to push the limits of what you believe to be possible. This is an incredible opportunity to expand your understanding and experience more command and control over your life. Onward you go into uncharted waters!!
