Why are 50% of adults in the U.S. overweight when 70% of us are on diets? Something doesn’t add up. It’s not because of a lack of desire to be healthy and it’s not because of a lack of effort. It’s because, for several reasons, you don’t understand your body. And if you don’t understand your body, how can you make it stronger and healthier?
The first issue standing in the way of understanding your body, is that what worked before, doesn’t work now. If you think back to when you were younger, your body was probably more resilient. But with time, our bodies change. Our metabolisms slow down, our hormones shift, and our body compositions change. So what worked 20 years ago, won’t work now.
The second issue is that the foods you think are healthy might not be the best foods for your body. Your body is very particular and there are certain things it doesn’t like. I’ve made no secret of the fact that there are a bunch of foods that my body doesn’t like. I can’t eat wheat, eggs, dairy, or whey protein. Even though those foods are healthy for others, they don’t sit well with mine. If you don’t understand what specifically your body wants, how can you successfully fuel it?
The third issue is how your body responds to stress. Life is stressful and you have more and more things coming at you at a faster rate. You have continuous notifications on your phone. You’ve got people demanding your attention all hours of the day. And the past couple of years have brought even more stress during the pandemic. All of these factors are contributing to your stress levels. And you try to ignore it, but that stress is affecting your body in ways that you need to understand so that you can counteract it.
The final issue is that you learned health facts as a kid and young adult that, frankly, weren’t true. How many fad diets were you exposed to growing up? Low fat, low carb, and intermittent fasting. And how often were you encouraged to do long amounts of cardio and aerobics instead of weight lifting if you wanted to be lean? Do cardio and eat salads. That dated advice will backfire and hurt your body.
If you don't understand your body, you can't change it. You can’t create a healthy, strong body, if you don’t understand it! And that’s where I come in. I want to teach you.
