Are you the type of person who goes all in once you set a goal? I know I am. When I decide to do something, I hammer it out until I get there.
But here’s the other side to that: Are you also the type of person who only starts something when you know you’ll win? Me too.
The blessing of being a high-achiever is that we know how to work and we get stuff done. The curse is that we hesitate to start when we don’t see a clear path to success. We get frustrated when the results we want don’t come fast enough. We quit when we feel like we’re losing.
That all-or-nothing mindset can be especially problematic when it comes to fitness. When you go all in and do everything at full speed, it can actually be physically damaging. You can injure yourself, or get so frustrated that you actually end up taking two steps back.
You can also end up overwhelmed as you try to figure out what to eat, what not to eat, how and when to work out, how to supplement your diet, how on earth to find time to sleep well, meditate, and hydrate… taking all of that on at once isn’t setting yourself up for success. And you might become so obsessed with making the perfect plan, that you never put the plan in action.
So while I know that you have a goal and want to hit the ground running, I want you to remember that
the most important thing is just to start.
I know that sounds too simple. But if you’re thinking of making sustainable, successful changes, you don’t have to do it all perfectly at once. You just have to start. Pick one thing at a time that you can do consistently. That consistency is the real skill you’re going to build.
What’s one thing you can start in the next week? Do you want to start working out? Don’t try to go to the gym 10 hours a week. Instead shoot for one or two days a week. Get that consistency down, build your confidence, and get out of the planning stage! And you’ll see success.
I’m here to help you find that success. I can help you create that healthy lifestyle strategy and then achieve and sustain it. One of the ways I do that is by helping you find the time to make it happen. My clients are often so overbooked, overwhelmed, and overstressed. And they often equate healthy changes with even more stress and overwhelm.
I take a different approach. I work with my clients to carve time out.
And I want to offer that to you. Next week, I’m hosting a free coaching session where we’ll find you the time you need to take care of your health. Give me 1 hour of your time and I’ll find you 5 during the Time Creation strategy session.
