We’re all really, really good at coming up with reasons why we can’t undertake a big life change “right now.” But when it comes to the changes that you want to make to your health, if you don’t start now, when will you do it?
If you put off those changes for a month or a year or five years, will your life really be less chaotic? No. There will always be something. For those of us who like to juggle a lot of balls, there will always be something. And that’s not going to change. There will never be a point where you have nothing else going on and can finally give some attention to the very last thing on your to-do list, you. You will never have an empty to-do list. So you need to learn to put yourself and your health at the top of the list. Not in one month or one year, but today.
Deciding to make yourself a priority
right now can be a hard mindset shift to make. But let me ask you this: If you keep putting off making changes to your lifestyle, what will things look like?
You can’t make changes
right now, so in 6 months you’ll have even less muscle, a higher fat percentage, and you’ll feel exhausted.
You can’t make changes
right now, so in one year your blood pressure will go up and your brain will feel foggy from the stress and lack of sleep.
You can’t make changes
right now, so in five or ten years you’ll have to deal with the realities of heart disease, diabetes, or Alzheimer’s.
There’s never going to be a perfect time to prioritize your health. That’s why right now
is the perfect time.
And the thing is, I know that even with all the ball you’re juggling, you can do what you put your mind to, because you’ve done it before! Whether it was going after the job you wanted, or the degree, or the award… you’ve put the effort in and accomplished some amazing things. So why don’t you go after your own health and happiness with that same effort?
You deserve to feel amazing! To have energy, confidence, and to not be stressed out of your mind. You deserve to feel great about what you see in the mirror. But you have to stop putting off the changes that will get you there! If you don’t prioritize your health now, when will you do it? If not now, when?
