When you don’t stick to your health goals, do you assume it’s your lack of willpower or maybe a lack of motivation that’s to blame? When motivation and willpower fades, what do you have in place to keep you going? To keep you working through the grind? It’s habits. When you start working towards a healthier lifestyle, you have to create habits that will keep you working once your motivation has faded.
I hear a lot of people say that they lack willpower or motivation. But I know that’s not your problem because I see how hard you work and how high you set your goals. You didn’t lack the motivation and willpower to get a college and postgraduate degree. You didn’t lack motivation to start and run your company. You didn’t lack the willpower to be successful in your career. So I don’t think that’s the issue.
I
do, however, believe that motivation and willpower are depreciating assets. We’re filled with it at the beginning of a new undertaking, and then they start to fade off. Whether it’s a new job, your first week of school, or a new lifestyle program, we start off motivated and excited! And the the grind set in and the excitement fades, the motivation fades, and the willpower fades.
That’s where habits come in. Habits are the opposite. They’re appreciating assets. They increase in value as you head towards your goal. And when you find a way to embrace setting a good habit, they’ll kick in as your motivation and willpower go down. Your habits are what will get you to your end goal. If you aren’t putting those habits in place as you work towards a healthy lifestyle, that might be where you’re having trouble.
The other day my son said, “I hate leg day. It’s so hard for me to get to get to the gym on those days because it’s the hardest workout that I do. It makes me dizzy. It makes me want to throw up. And I just dread it.” And we all have those days. Those tasks that we just dread. That’s why we have to have good habits in place to get that stuff done.
I always say that you can Google whatever workout or menu you want. But Google isn’t going to get you to the finish line because it doesn’t teach you the habits that are going to support you when your willpower and motivation start to die off. That’s why so many people start over and over again.
That’s why I’m so passionate about habit building in my programs. Because I don’t want you to ever have to start over from scratch again. I believe that a healthy lifestyle starts with creating healthy habits. And that happens on an individual and consistent scale. For example, in my
VIP Healthy Lifestyle Accelerator program, I sit down with you for three hours and we drill down into
your
life. We figure out what you specifically need to be healthy, what your challenges and stressors are, and then we come up with a strategy to put in place. It is specific to you and it’s in depth.
My other program
Revive, sets you up with not just me as your coach, but with other people who are going through the same process as you, struggling with the same issues. So you have a constant support system to keep you on track.
There are ways to set yourself up for success. I know you have the motivation to do it and I know you have the willpower. So let’s focus on creating the habits that will sustain your healthy lifestyle! Changing your whole lifestyle to make it healthier is simple. We make it more complicated because we don't work with our minds. And we don't work with our soul. Let’s change that! Sign up for my
VIP Healthy Lifestyle Accelerator program and let’s create healthy habits that will last a long, happy lifetime!
